- 1 store-bought or homemade angel food cake, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
- In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
- Cut the angel food cake into bite-sized pieces.
- Carefully add a few pieces of angel food cake at a time to the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the churro bites from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- While still warm, toss the churro bites in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Repeat the frying and coating process until all pieces are cooked and coated.
- Serve immediately for the best texture.
